BOMBAA!! Monday 31st August Wip

BOMBAA!

Started working on Nekki Basara's VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie, don't know why but i got the sudden urge to start this.

Almost finished the Phalanx with a little display for that one, make it looking like it being guided into a position for a Daedalus Attack.

DSC03928

F-14 practically done, all that's needed the canopy to be fitted and the mustang just needs a few little tweaks before it complete. Wanting to make a display for both of these if i can.

Kannagi - Crazy Shrine Maidens

Kannagi - Crazy Shrine Maidens

Usual like to watch a fun anime after some awesome action packed mecha filled with angst anime.

Kannagi - Crazy Shrine Maidens was quality, filled with lot of laughs, otaku references (most i probalie missed) and cute gals too, which is always nice. Wonder how many anime there are about a young high schooler who lives on his own and happens to get a cute girl living with him, sure ive seen alot following that kinda pattern?

Directed by Yutaka Yamamoto who also directed Haruhi and some Lucky Star, he like to have dance routines in the intros. Sometimes after watching the intro several times i tend to get bored of it and skip ahead but this one i watched the into every time, think it great.

HGUC 1/144 Char's custom Zaku II

HGUC 1/144 Char's custom Zaku II 1 HGUC 1/144 Char's custom Zaku II 2

Got to out together a opponent for he RX-78 Gundam to fight, Char's custom Zaku II.

Got this one assembled really quickly, around a hour. Even though the kit look good and matches the anime perfectly there is a real lack of action pose that can be preformed, like none.

Really wanted to pose it in the flying though space while holding the gun with both hands pose but seems to be impossible for me to achieve, can only do the really simple pose in the photo taken, can't even aim the bazooka.

Got to think of a way to use this in a display, thinking of maybe in a hanger woth the chest cockpit open and techincian working on it.

1/144 scale comparison

Wanted to show how big the F-14 Tomacat is compared to its distant cousin the VF-1, also got the P-51 Mustang in there to see how small WW2 prop fighter are compared to a jet.

Star Wars: Art of The Clone Wars

DSC03754

Always been a big fan of Art of or Making of books for movies, anime or video games, got quite a few. So much so that a shelf i had alot of them on collapse and destroyed my old chunky television and part of the surround system. was out in the garden had heard this massive crash, has this weird idea that a plane had crashed into my roof.

DSC03768

Received this last week which i pre-ordered from Amazon and totally forgotten about, great surprise to receive a bog heavy parcel and get an art book.

DSC03807

Now that Battlestar Galactica has finished airing The Clone Wars has become my favorite show, lot of bounty hunter action coming in season 2.

DSC03800

Massive fan of the show, brilliant how it look like a painting which trough reading this ive discovered that the creator wanted to bring a Ralph McQuarrie painting to life, which is cool idea.

DSC03781

The droid General Grievous, he runs away alot

DSC03794

Clones, lot and lots of Clones and hoping for more Clones only episodes in season 2 like "Rookies", that was a highlight.

DSC03797

Great opening battle from "Jedi Crash"

DSC03791

"Roger, Roger" I awlays find this funny, seems its the roger going to be toned down in season 2.

DSC03783

More droids for the clones to destroy, the commando droids where awesome, almost as a deadly as a clone trooper.

DSC03783

Plo Koon discovers Ashoka, never animated but a cool piece of art, thunk i might be one of the few Star Wars fans who likes Ashoka Tano.

DSC03802

Cool WW2 nose art for the Republic Gunships.

Bandai HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 1

After watching all 3 Gundam 0079 movies i really was looking forward to assembling the star of the show, the RX-78-2 Gundam. This is the first HGUV (High Grade Universal Centruy) RX-78-2 i think, got this because it was easy for me to get but definalty getting the new 30th aniversary version too, detail on that look sweet.

Took me maybe 3 hours to put him together, first time ive used a gundam marker, like how they bring the plain plastic alive and add depth to the gunpla. Read that i should marker up the sprue before i assemble, stops the ink running into any fitting seams and showing them up.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 2

Cool 2 handed beam saber pose, can get some real nice pose's from this but not really able to hold the beam rifle with both.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 5

Really like the simple design of the original suit, been looking at lots of other gunpla and some look really great like the GM, Ric Dom and most of the Zoen suits and suits from MS 08th Team are looking to be my favorite. But at the moment not really a fan of the mobile suit from Gundam Seed, something about them that i not really into, too fantasie looking maybe.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 6

Copying the pose of the full size RX-78-2, wish i could go see that. Like the simple child like colouring, very bright and happy design for a giant killing machine.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 7

Really like the shield design, good to see the GM's using it. Only realised that the star on the shield is the federation emblem when i was building it, think i might have done a bit over board with the gundam marker on the rear of the shield.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 8

All the parts went together great, did'nt even have to use glue.

Beam Saber's that fit into the back back are cool.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 3

Great little part is how the shield fits onto the arm and the backpack.

HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam V1. 4

My favorite photo, looking towards the star.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 Movie Trilogy

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 Movie I

Recently watched all 3 Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 movies over 3 weekend, one each Sunday, didn't really want to watch the entire 49 episodes or the original.

Thought they great great and can see why gundam is adored so much, this stuff is good. Surprised bu all the death in them, did not really expect so much to be in an anime from 1979 but like macross ahead of its time being the first real robot show.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 Movie II

Funny that the first Universal Century i watched was F91, being the about 100 years away in the U.C. so far, didn't really research enough before i watched that and now see lot of comparisons between 0079 and F91, group of kids fighting in a war, parent originallay helped build the gundam, girl who really belongs to the enemy.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 Movie III

Lots of great battle and the animation was really quite good for being 30 years old, don't know if when the edited the movies together the best parts where chosen but all the essential parts seem to be included from what ive read.

For some reason dislike the design of White Base, thought it really didn't look like it could work and was way too brightly coloured, probable because of the animation style at the time of have really colourful mecha.

This was a awesome moment, super spoiler here. This is dubbed but i watched it subbed. Got the box set of 3 movies for a decent price because of the 30th anniversary.

When i was a kid i really believed that i would be living in one of those space colonies which i use to look at in books.

Revell 1/144 Eurofighter Typhoon

DSC03126

My first finished plane that is in service today, the Eurofighter Typhoon from Revell. Even though the kit is really lacking detail im really happy with the way its turned out.

Really dig how the Pro modellers Wash really brought out the panel lines and gave it a worn in look. First model i used the the Micro Sol and Micro Set decal softener, this stuff really impressed me, melts the decal on to the model to give it a painted on look and once applied try not to touch the decal again, the pain at ruining the decal.

Quite a few thing that i can improve on,getting the masking on the canopy correct, you can kinda see where i didn't apply the masking tape correctly and left a weird looking finishing line. Still got to watch were i put my fingers after i glued the model. Not to sand so hard that i leave a flat surface where it should be rounded.

LandLock

LandLock

Anime movie which i watched at the weekend, was in released in Japan a 2 45 minute OVA's but Manga Entertainment combined them into one to form a movie.

Manga Entertainment UK had the best trailers, use to record the music of the tv and listen to them on my super massive Sony Walkman, miss these great old advertisments

Synopsis
The land of Zer’lue is in turmoil, ravaged by the technological might of Chairman Sana'ku and his evil, militaristic Zul’earth forces. In a rapidly unfolding story of treachery, deceit and betrayal, only one boy holds the power to defeat such overwhelming odds... a boy named Lue'der, who possesses a mysterious red eye and the ability to control the power of the wind itself. With the fate of the world at stake, Lue'der must learn to unlock his legendary power and battle against the evil which threatens to engulf his planet.

Kinda uninspiring anime, thought that when i saw Masamune Shirow created the Mecha, possible the script and the character design (best part of the movie) that i would be for a Appleseed style treat, not so.

Wanted to watch this because years ago like maybe 14 ish years ago i remember seeing this as a new release but not being able to afford it, a staggering £14.99 back then and not old enough to buy it, if i had the money i would have just ask a friends older brother to buy it for me anyway.

Never caught onto the name of the character, they were too weird and when ever a character talk about someone else i was unsure who they where referring to, much easier to stick with Han, Luke and Leia than Lue'der, Sana'ku and what other crazy made up name i forget.

Interesting parts was the family ties, father who finds a boy and brings him up as his son who has a sister who has a twin who's the enemy who kills her own father without knowing who fake father knew and is a real nutter.

I think a 2/5 is the rating i'd give this, not great and quite struggle to watch all 1 hour and 30 minutes but a relief to finish it. Alway think those quotos on movie poster a unreliable "Excellent, simply gorgeous in all aspects", should have been "Great idea and designs but could have been so much better"

Revoltech Neon Genesis Evangelion

Revoltech Evangelion 2

Had a little play with my revoltech EVA's which i found stashed at the back of my bits and bobs draw. Took me quite some time to get these in the poses i wanted them, i think that why i stored them away after getting a little annoyed at not getting them to look like there posed on the back of the boxes.

Revoltech Evangelion 1

First revoltechs i bought at Anime Expo in London, also got the summer version of Yotsuba, some Macross Valkyrie and Regult and maybe a few Gurren Lagann's.

Revoltech Eva Unit 02

The blue upgraded EVA Unit 00 is my favorite, great looking colour and comes with the best accessories.

Revoltech EVA Unit 00

"WHY!" can't i get Unit 01 to stand in a great berserker pose, lol. Platoon style pose instead, the head and hands for berserk are really cool little accessory.

More Gunpla from UC 0079

DSC03338

Starting watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam which got me wanting to have ago at building a few gunpla from the series. Had a look around and the only olace in the UK to get any was eBay which always seems to be the case. Got these for in a lot for £20 which i thought seemed OK.

Going to build Chars Zaku first before i tackle the Guntrio. Already a big Zaku II fan, explain why i see so many Zaku models when i go searching for gunpla modeling.
Look like good kit but not as good as the gunpla from Gundam 00 i got recently. Wondering if i should paint Char's Zaku all read as the plastic looks slightly pink.

Building up quite a stash which is both a good and bad thing, end up getting to many to build or store anyway.

Doyusha 1/144 Macross VF-X2 Game Colour Vf-19A

DSC03266

Recently acquired another die-cast macross fighter through Macross World Forums which i think is quite cool. Is a production model of the YF-19 from the Macross VF-X2 game. Already got the YF-21 which i like but as with that one not a detail as i would have liked but thats just because of nit being die-cast metal.

Under the supervision of "Shoji Kawamori" is cool, knew he designed the VF-19A head but not the colour scheme.

DSC03233

Excellent packaging just like all Doyusha 1/144 Macross fighters. Excellent box it kept in, like a jewelry box.

DSC03242

DSC03253

Has swept back wings which is cool but don't remember that happening in Macross Plus.

DSC03268

DSC03277

Birds eye view

DSC03286

Looks a bit dull underneath.

DSC03294

Awesome little detail is the "No Step" warning sign on the wings, letters are about half the height of a millimeter.
