In all honesty this recently completed MiG-29 Fulcrum to me just does not look right, maybe its the lack of undershading, weathering or maybe i just got the colour wrong, that green is far too bright.
Followed building this model quite a few other modelers attempt at updating this kit but alot of mine just does not look right, especially the nose cone from certain angle. Wonder why there is a total lack of decent Russian / Soviet aircraft kits available, at least for the latter cool aircraft.
Put this one down to learn from ones mistakes, decided to try and only build newer more accurate kit from now on like Revell, Platz, Sweet and maybe buy a few of the newer smaller company who are releasing some nice looking aircraft.
Favorite part of this build it the snow guard on behind the rear of the front landing gear wheel.
Got the Polish Fulcrum coming next which i think is a improvement on this one.

I think you've made the best of it. Without major surgery, there is just no way to correct the kit's flaws. However, from some angles it looks almost like the real thing - especially in that last picture. I think softer paint edges might have improved the look quite a bit. If you dare, you can still try to achieve that effect by applying a wash with highly diluted light grey oil paint. Although you'd have to be *very* careful not to mess up the decals.
Still: Very nice work and a very clean build! Thumbs up!
That looks pretty pitch perfect to me. My hat is tipped in respect.
Nice & clean, looks nice!
obviously u r more documented in this kind of stuff, so u feel that this MIG lacks of realism, but man i think that ur job here is really good... i wish i could do the same with my kits =)
Cheers All!
Really would like to have ago at removing the defined line but knoiw that after a few layer of wash and protective coats that it would'nt look quite right, next ime free had airbrush i reckon instead of masking tape and tac.
I haven't had much luck with free hand airbrushing in this scale. Try floating masks instead. This page shows what I'm talking about: http://users.telenet.be/erik.wauters/su22build.htm (Hope the link gets through.)
Anon, are your Erik Wauters?
No, I just stumbled upon his page by googling.
