Sweet 1/144 - Mitsubishi A6M3 Model 22 Zero Fighter - WIP 1- Cockpit

DSC09952
Got the cockpit done in one week, the Sweet kit is quite plain but the rest is suberb, decided to add a little detail to the cockpit.

Added a instrument panel, cut out the shape in plasticard then to make the gauges i drilled holes to make them, added the pedels even  though they cant be seen, a joystick and finally used masking tape to make the belt for the seat.

[Kit Review] - Sweet 1/144 - Mitsubishi A6M3 Model 22 Zero Fighter -

Sweet 1/144 - Mitsubishi A6M3 Model22 Zero Fighter - 1

If your going to build a Sweet 1/144 kit you've got to build one of there Zero Fighter, Sweet love em and it shows by how many variation they've released.

Amazing detail for something so small, checked it against the 1/48 hasegawa kit.

Ive decided that i need to start building the many many kit ive stashed, i plan to start building and finish a model every 2 weeks. Hope i can do that.

Summer Wars

Serious recommendation to watch this awesome movie! One of the best anime ive watched for some time. I'll let wikipedia do the explain the plot because there is no way i can do it justice.

All the character all designed by the fantastic Yoshiuki Sadamoto and there are alot of them yet you know who they all are which i amazing. Animation is beautiful which i lucky got to watch in HD, damn that's sharp.

Mobile Suit Gundam - Char's Counterattack

Quality movie with lots of sweet mecha action, which i's like. This was what i though was meant to be the last Universal Century stories but just discovered Victory Gundam which i going to leave for some time, think ive gundam overloaded (except Unicorn, got to watch that asap)

Defiantly would have been better as a TV series, though of course then the animation would not have been so good. I think it would have been better because before all of Tomino's gundam series have been around the 50 episode mark which give alot of time to discover the characters and plot line which i think there seemed to be quite a few plot holes in this. Unlike the movie which introduces new one which only appear for a relatively short period of time, What happened to Amuro's fear of space from Zeta Gundam, shame we never got to see him over coming that on screen.

Will be modelling Char's Sazabi, that is one beautiful looking mobile suit and its huge!

All the UC ive watched since summer last year -

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079
MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War
MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079
MS IGLOO 2: The Gravity Front
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
Mobile Suit Gundam: F91

Ive been trying to get an anime mete series done each year, so far 2007 everything Dragonball, 2008 everything Macross, 2009 everything UC gundam and for 2010 i going for Votoms.

Sweet 1/44 - Royal Navy Widcat IV -

DSC09040
Excellent little kit from Sweet which i completed months ago but never got around to taking pics of. Reckon ive got about another 5 kits of the Wildcat IV from Sweet yet to be made which hopefully next time i won't ruin the canopy on, bought some new glue for clear plastic which should help with that. Actually bought this kit a year ago when i first started model building, damn time flies.

This version is from Number 794 Squadron at the Royal Navy Base Eglinton, Northern Ireland. 1945.

Using HG RX-79(G) Gundam to make a better GM Sniper

DSC08857
Came up with the idea after assembling the RX-79(G) Gundam that it could be a great base to build a better RGM 79 GM Sniper.

Will require alot of work and time but i thinkit can be done like ive seen other modellers adapt gunpla to make a new mecha.

Going to have to draw up plans before tacking this project, lots of cutting up of the model to dowhich i yet to even know where to start.

Big box of 1/144 swaps.

Big box of 1/144 swaps.
Swapped these kits for all of my 1/72 ive collected over the years except for the sweet hasagawa macross kits (can't let of of them).

Half of what ive received are nice kits, some of the boxes are wrong but the majority are correct.
First kit i plan to build is the F-20, only 4 of those ever built then the F-16.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ

Got around to finishing off double zeta which i reckon would be the equivalent of Macross 7 in the universal century.  I liked it but not as much as the other gundam series or ova's ive watched, had good bits and for a more goffy take in the gundam universe there was still quite alot of deaths. Was great to get to see Camille / Kamille and then Sayla which was a surprise.

No new mecha in there that i wiuld want to model Gundam ZZ was cool but Zeta and Mk.II better.

Had my favorite gundam gal so far, Roux Louka or as thought i heard it Lu Luka.

Onto Char's Counterattack, looking forward to that one.

Revell 1/144 AV-8B Harrier II plus - [WIP 03/04] - Decaled

Revell 1/144 AV-8B Harrier II plus - [WIP 03/04] - Dacaled 1

Got the entire bird decaled up today, took me about 3 hours! Don't know what was going on with the time but sure must have gone super fast.

After a nice heavy gloss i apllied the decals using a mix of the revell and dml dragon ones. Both decaled supplied for the kits are both wrong for the actual photos of this harrier which i'm modellling but can be corrected using a mix from both.

Using the dml dragon tail-wing decals on the revell model which meant i had to cut up the decal into 4 pieces  half way through applying this one to get to fix correctly. Used alot of decal solution to get this one to fit in the right position.

Revell 1/144 AV-8B Harrier II plus - [WIP 03/04] - Decaled 2

Nearly finished which actually means another month for me to get her all done and i want o start new models.

Making of Otti - Open the Toy mascot - [Part 2]

Open the Toy - Otti - Most of the paint applied and starting the eyes.

More making of the maskot for Leon's Open the Toy,  OTTi.

After getting him all ready, its time for the paint work. Above you can see that he's nearly all done, just started the eyes here. Had no airbrush at this time but still think i did quite a nice job with the brush work. First i painted the blue trouser which then i masked off, then the white and then all detail like shoes and finally the eyes.

Below is all the paint done and ready for a nice gloss coat to protect the paint work and protect him on his journey back home. Pupils on the eyes was a little tricky had to redo them a few times so that i hope he's actually looking at you.

Open the Toy - Otti - Paint all completed and ready fro a gloss coat.

This is the last photo i took before posting him out with the homemade decals on his t-shirt.

Open the Toy - Otti - Homemade decal applied, finished and ready to post.

Check out the finished result HERE

From my little Making of you would'nt have guessed that i received the figure befroe Christmas and took me about 3 months to complete. Really enjoyed making him though, something new which was different to the mecha or aircraft i usually make.

Making of Otti - Open the Toy mascot - [Part 1]

Open the Toy - Otti - draft design.
Before Christmas Leon  from Open the Toy asked me of i could make repaint a figure to make his askot OTTi, yeah i thought why not. Never done anything like that before and would like to have ago at something pop art.

Above is the design Leon sent and below is the original figure which i receiveda ll the way from Singapore in like 4 days, super fast! Which i think might be vinyl.

Open the Toy - Otti - Original figure, not quite the happy guy. Open the Toy - Otti - Original figure 2

Open the Toy - Otti - Original figure 3

First thing to be done is to sand and get him primed so i can apply the paint.

Open the Toy - Otti - Sanded, ready to be primed

After being primed i tried out the green paint i had chosen for OTTi's skin tone, looked perfect to me, very vibrant.
