Revell 1/144 - F14A Tomcat and F-14D Super Tomcat - Just about done.

Just over a year ago i finished these 2 Tomcats in the back before i got a little bit addicted to gunpla but today i started to finish these again. Used the dragon flight deck again with one of my first model i completed, the classic jolly rogers.

Reason i worked on this today was the below zero weather here in the UK at the mo, too cold for me to go outside and use the rattle can to prime the eduard MiG-21's so started looking much like ive been doing this past month ive been finishing up a few models that ive basically forgot i ever started.

Revell 1/144 - F14A Tomcat and F-14D Super Tomcat - Wip 3

2 shark teeth tomcats all decaled and weathered along with all the bits done that need to be glued except the canopy's.

Looking at the photo now i just realised that i haven't even sprayed the tail hooks for both birds, thought for the moment then that all i have to do is glues these bits an they would be complete.

Really liking the way the Sundowners f-14 looks, want to do that scheme on a VF-1 Valkyrie.

Revell 1/144 - F14A Tomcat and F-14D Super Tomcat - Wip 2

Big cat all sprayed up. Airbrushed last weekend, details painted yesterday and a gloss coat today, ready to be decaled but not sure when.

Think the under shading is just visible, mostly on the ghost grey sundowner cat but reckon the flash must have annihilated what could be seen.

Looking forward to getting the the susndowner decals on the jet, those tail marking have always been a favorite.

Revell 1/144 - F14A Tomcat and F-14D Super Tomcat - Wip 1

Revell 1/144 F-14s all built and ready to be primed / painted. Great little kit to build, need very little putty and sanding which for me is a big win.

Reckon ive made a mistake by gluing in the wings, notice alot of modellers keeping them separate and assembling the cat at the end of the build, which for some reason i totally forgot to do.

F-14D has pilot in the cockpit and the F-14A without. Tried something different on the nose, used sewing needles to replace the point, first f-14 i built i kept breaking that off which was a pain.

Going to wait for alot of the model are ready to paint and airbrush them in in a one sitting i hope, reckon i will bin this green mat.

[Kit Review] - Revell 1/144 - F14A Tomcat and F-14D Super Tomcat -

New build for the new year, another model ive built before and one i think i can do better going to model 2 F-14s, one a F-14A Tomcat and the other a F-14D Super Tomcat, reckon a Sundowner and Grim Reapers will looks great.

Great kit with some quality detail, this is the F-14A, the F-14D has different engines and rader.



My favorite looking jet, reckon i will be building more of these in the future.

Variable Fighter Master File - VF-1 VALKYRIE -

Brilliant new mook i got sent from Japan published in 2020 by the Macross Broadcast Agency. Filled with lots of cool almost photo realistic pictures, drawing and so much information (but of course in Japanese, only know 200 Kanji i can only really read the Kana).

As soon as i finished geeking out over the great photos in here, i dug out some of my 1/144 F-Toys VF-1's to get cracking copying some of the cool new marking from this. This is only stratosphere Valkyries with no Super parts present except for an drawing, hope another for space valks comes out in the future.

First photo in the book is a great sunset flypast the SDF-1.


Nice shot over the mountains at the top and classy shot from the ground of a landing brownie.



VF-1D two seaters goodness.



Cool photos on the bottom of a Valkyrie dispensing flares and i wonder if the LM on the right with the Valkyries in front of the SDF-1 means Lynn Minmay? Nice fly past the SDF-1 by brownies from the TV Series.

Thats a quality pic of a DYRL? VF-1S



Nice sunset shots, especially the one of the SDF-1 street view from Macross City and theres the quality Ark Royal Valkyrie.



VF-1 and VF-0 in the same photo, along with the two seater electronic VF-1G and the unknown to me VF-1N. Battriod Max VF-1A and Hikaru VF-1J TV.

Plenty of info like this showing where whats what and where it should go, pages on every detail.



Few pages on the CVS-101 Prometheus are cool, this thing can sink to the control tower just showing above the surface so its harder to track, nice.



Like the fly over the Prometheus by Roy Focker and Brownie,must be just before the series starts.

Eight single pages of these Squadron Marking's of the Valkyrie all in 1/144 scale, lots of cool schemes i would like to do.




Got to do the Ark Royal Valkyrie being a brit, oh a pink one, lovely and it zentradi or would that be meltradi.



Will review the VF-19 master file once received, no word yet on another one, would expect VF-25 next.
Such a quality book, hope i don't wear it out thumbing through it too often.

Quick base for the Revell 1/144 F-14A Tomcat

Very quick and easy base i bought cheap, just aribrushed and drew the lines. Bought more of these real cheap bases pf various sizes which i hope to make some dios for eveything i got 1/144.

Next time i will do undershading so that the grey does'nt look so mono and add a little depth.

Revell 1/144 - F-14A Tomcat "Jolly Rogers" - Completed

6 month after buying the revell tomcat its finaly complete. One very long build as i keep getting distracted by other models i want to build which also means i got a very large collection of models that need to work.



Really very happy with the way its turned out, know there alot more that i could again which i will do when i start another f-14 build next year.

Love how the wash brings out all the panel lines.

[Kit Review] - Revell 1/144 - F-14A Tomcat -

This is the best revell kit ive so far purchased, the detail on this kit has really surprised me. Ive been collecting quite a few F-14 so i can build a really good model of my favorite American jet and of course what the VF-1 Valkyrie was based on.

The amount of paneling is quite incredible and the weapons, landing gear and cockpit are the best ive seen, so damn crisp.

Going to have to paint this one up in the classic Jolly Rogers marking which inspired the awesome Skull Leader marking.



Instructions are the most detailed ive seen as well, these instructions are almost a book with 3 different decal options for various Jolly Rogers. Tells me what the names of the armament is as well which i really don't have a clue what there called bu i always asume sidewinders are sidewinders when they might not be.

Going to have to buy another and custom up Shin's F-14 from Macross Zero.

[Kit Review] - Dragon 1/144 - "Fightertown USA" F-14A with Ground Support Equipment -

Another new purchase, got this because ive have yet to see any ground equipment and who doesn't like an F-14. Kit is from 1991 so the decals have started to yellow, which is a shame. Wondering if because the ground equipment is yellow, i can still use them there.

Good looking plastic and the canopy is tinted which might be cool when finished.

Ive noticed alot of Dragon 1/144 kits on ebay, looks like there are some cool fighter produced and some released recently so made the decals are still in good condition. See if i can pick so up on the cheap and find out.
