Dual-Combo - Revell 1/144 Sukhoi S-37 Berkut X Mig 1.44 Mfi -

"Dual-Combo" decided to start making my fighters in double as quite a few of the models kits i buy come in 2 anyway. Will go along the direction of either markings of the origin country and then one in a foreign air force (F-104, Mig-29), High Vis / Low Viz (F-/A-18, F-14), 1 seater / 2 seater (A-7, Me-262) or even variants (A-6/EA-9, Mig-25/Mig-31)

As these 2 Russian jets where both advanced technology testbeds built at the same time i reckon i can start of with these as a Dual-Combo.

Anyway check out the size of the beast, the Spitfire looks incredibly small next to these 2 giants.






Got a few Dual-Combo's ready to go soon, F-104, Hawker Hurricane.

Revell 1/144 Sukhoi S-37 Berkut - Completed

Completed Revell 1/144 Sukhoi S-37 Berkut, i think this is one wicked looking jet, big deadly looking fighter. Same level of detail as the Mig MFI but fits better while the MFI has better jet nozzles.

Really like the decals on this, simple but really effective.

Revell 1/144 - Sukhoi S-37 Berkut + MIG 1.44 MFI - Wip - Decaled

The MFI 1.44 and Berkut almost completed, been decaled, landing gear added and a repainted the cockpit on the MIG 1.44.

Quickest decaled aircraft ive done, hardly any markings on Soviet jets, usually red stars and a few warning decals.

All that's needs doing is one last clear coat and add the canopy and antenna.

Revell 1/144 Sukhoi S-37 Berkut - Wip 2 - Paint

Berkut being all black is a bit of a pain to keep nice and clean, already after 1 day there little white dust marks which my eyes home in on and every time i touch her a finger print is left. But luckily once i glossed the surface ready for decaling they all disappeared.

Decided to cover of the white parts with masking tape to keep them clean and as something to hold on to so i don't leave any more marks on the birds.

Revell 1/144 Sukhoi S-37 Berkut - Wip 1- Built and ready for paint.

One cool looking jet, those swept forward wing and all black, deadly.

Started this kit but in the pic its practically built, only took me 2 nights which, one to glue together then the next night and then rush the cockpit, really very simple and did not take me much time.  Everything fits fine so far, can see how little putty ive needed for the the joints.

Think i didn't put any effort into the cockpit which i now wish i did, next time i do some modelling i might take off the canopy and add a little bit more detail in there.

[Kit Review] - Revell 1/144 - Sukhoi S-37 Berkut -

Sprues for this bird are big, this has got to be one of the biggest jet fighter built. It like a Hummer next to the SmartCar big up against of jets.

Looks like a real simple kit, all relatively accurate next to reference but nothing special compared to the Revell F-14 and Harrier ive built.

Revell 1/144 Russian Advanced Technology Demonstrators

Two 1/144 scale kits released by Revell of 4.5 / 5 Generation demonstrators, which i guess got shelved after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Mikoyan Project 1.44 or Mig 144 Mfi and the Sukhoi S-37 Berkut, which ive also seen as Su-47.

Going to build both at the same time, bought the Mig off eBay and got the Berkut in a trade.

Berkut might be a but of a pain being all black, worried about dust ruining it .
