Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom" - Completed -

Completed the "Red Comet" Char Aznables Custom MS-06S Zaku II, very quick build this one with the only mods done being sharpening off the antenna and the spikes on the shoulder guard.

All weathered which i think tones down the pink somewhat, tried adding oil drips from screw holes and the like. The more i look at this the more i think its my favourite RG so far.



Wanted a bigger Char logo than the one supplied with the RG decals on the shield, going to use this same decal pattern on all my future zakus which is only a little different from the instructions but i think more formal.



Only real red on the "Red Comet" is the backpack.

This is my 3rd Zaku, 5th RG and second time modelling the this Chars Zaku II, originally went with a very red paint scheme but was not happy with it so repainted it in a more anime accurate colours (man salmon).

Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom" - On Parade

My latest Real Grade Zaku II, the "Red Comet" on parade and ready to sortie. This is the 5th RG completed and the 3rd Zaku. Really like doing the first completed photo in the "on parade" type shot with all the weapons laid out it front

All weathered last weekend which was really satisfying darking up the pink to tone it down a little and because its a real light colour really looks quite nice. Might do another MS-06S in the future, the black recon Zaku from MS Igloo which i really like but a long way off yet.

Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom" - WiP - Decaled

Almost completed, decaled and then a satin coat applied which has given it a real nice texture to weather onto.

When i decaled this i didn't quite follow the instructions, felt that too of the markings make the Zakus look a little "busy" and this is now the template for all future RG Zakus.

Its not pink its "Man Salmon"

Damn hard to get the colour match correct and still not feeling its perfect compared to the anime but having run low on white couldn't risk mixing up any new batch of pinkish paint. Think it will be fine and from the colours any gundam fan would know its the Red Comet.

Got this painted and ready to decal in quite good time, probable be completed by Christmas to then concentrate onto the Mk.II AEUG.

Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom" - WiP - Antenna + Spikes

Repainting Char's Zaku doing it this time changed a few little bits. The first thing i did was the thin and sharpen up the command antenna which makes the zaku head look alot sleeker and then sharpen the shoulder spikes. Already did the shoulder spikes the first time round but had ago at doing it again to improve what i did before.

Looks like that when you model the MS-06S these are the only 2 main things you need to do to improve the RG Zaku.

All ready to be painted again now.

Was going to weather but going to repaint.

Was going to attempt a U.C. Hardgraph style weathering on my newly completed after a year Char Zaku but now i no longer like the colour i painted it in.

Going to strip the paint off and repaint Char's Zaku again in the anime "Man Salmon" scheme.

Could have made it Johnny Ridden,s MS-06S if none of Chars specific decals had not be added.

Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom" - WiP 3 - Decaled, assembled.

Wanted Char's Zaku to be less pink and more red and yeah it very red. Quite bling in the photo, always had trouble photographing red, always over saturated.

Painted the red differently to the green zaku, instead of following the RG instructions and have every panel a different shade, ive kept to the usual Zaku scheme and painted the body one whole colour and the limbs another. When looking at real military vehicles separate panel are very rarely painted different shades, i figure why noit with future weapons.

Got these 2 Rg Zaku up to the same stage right now, painted the metallic effects on the joints instead of the stickers which came with the kits.

Decaled the green MS-06F first some time ago and followed the instructions perfectly but after finishing it thought that maybe the decals made it look too busy so Char's Zaku ive decaled less tried only one decal perfect limb.

Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom" - WiP 2 Paint

Tried out the new airbrush which is a massive improvement over the predecessor and painted up all the red for the RG Char's Zaku and the Dopp which is the green in the background.

Much more red than your usual Char Zaku which is pink for some reason. Also added the panel line wash last night  and will hope to decal soon.

Build is going very smooth at the mo.

Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom" - WiP 1 primed.

Bit of a boring update but had to wait for the weather here to calm down so i could go outside and prime every single piece of this kit. Almost used an entire can of primer spraying every piece and almost 2 packet of kebab sticks, only have 10 proper tweezers for airbrushing.

Going to have to get the right reds for Char's zaku mixed now, still unsure about he colour, i would prefer the "Red Comet" to have a purely red MS but i know it would be more accurate to have pink.

Real Grade 1/144 - MS-06S Zaku II "Char Aznable Custom"

The next RG build. Going to paint up the "Red Comet" in more of a red livery as appears in M.S. Igloo rather than the pink from the TV series.

 Going to be my first entry into the Zaku Group Build over at MAC forums.

Still got 2 RG builds on the go, but if i get this started now i reckon i can have Char's Zaku finished during Christmas holidays.

During this last weekend ive sanded down all the parts which took quite some time, these RG kits have alot of parts! Some ruddy tiny too!




Waiting for it to stop raining here in Blighty so i can prime these.
