Top quality anime this one, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket is a great 6 episode OVA side story set with the massive Universal Century.
Has great mecha action with some mecha designs from Macross creator Shōji Kawamori, excellent character design from the amazing Haruhiko Mikimoto and a great little story with one very sad ending, Bernie (manly tears).
Really like how the most of the mecha designs, wonder what would have happened if the Gundam Alex got delivered to White Base? Not sure about the Zaku II redesign, really not a big fan of the different gun the Zeons have instead of the cool WW2 looking axis weapon they now have futuristic machine guns.

The surprise assault opening of this OVA is top notch. I also enjoy the moment GM Command & GM Sniper appeared. Pretty them are so vulnerable. It's a really touching OVA and I really hate the tragic ending. At but not least would be the awesome full armor Gundam NT1 Alex. Totally cool!
My favourite Gundam anime would be 08th team, 0080 & 0083.
Yeah the opening was great, wonder if there a gunpla of the armored Alex cause that was quite a cool take on gundam.
Starting 0083 now, lots of cool suits.
I think there is FA Gundam Alex in MG series.

Maybe you meant Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory; -Yutaka Izubuchi- is the mecha designer for Gundam 0080.
